Urgency Compels Innovation and Action

The idea for Studio Eleven57 began when I was a kid. I grew up outside of London and took the train into the city for school. On weekends out with friends, I would usually be running late for the last train home. In a world without cell phones, Uber or late night taxis, missing the train had real consequences.

I never missed it! I also never forgot the feeling of settling into my chair after the mad rush and staring out of the window dreaming about what was possible in the future. And that’s what inspires me today…the passion for tackling urgent things with creative thinking, possibility and action. The last train left at 11:57 pm.

If pigs could fly. Every trip on the train included a view of Battersea Power Station which was a depressing reminder of aging technology and a past era. One day, I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Pink Floyd’s infamous inflated pig tethered to the smokestacks which became the cover of their iconic album, Animals.

Today, Battersea Power Station has undergone a £9bn redevelopment and serves as a hub for technology and innovation across Europe. The contrast between the old and new is a source of inspiration and a reminder to believe that anything is possible.
